I started this substack last Fall. I had the best of intentions (and obviously still do), but didn’t have a clear direction. I started to write something that mimicked what others had done…a long list of events for the day, the week…with a summary of what they were and what they meant. It was boring. It was predictable…and I’m sorry. It won’t happen again, and you can thank astrology for my rebirth.
I watch a lot of astrology videos, because they are enjoyable. Some astrologers are much better (and more interesting) than others (trust me). But what this whole sector of YouTube has taught me is this: there are thousands of astrologers that all look at the same sky and the same birth charts, but still they all find a different way to approach astrology. Through their uniqueness they connect to different audiences. Some of them do it because they are passionate about it and approach astrology as rigorously as any scientific or philosophical discipline, and some do it because they get views and attention.
Lots of people write about stuff. Some are extremely skilled in writing and well-versed in certain topics, some actually have areas of expertise, some are natural entertainers; however, some people just write about anything because they think they’re experts or they think people actually care about what they have to say - armchair philosophers (like everyone who suddenly became an expert in vaccine policy during the Covid pandemic, and ironically are now the same people who are experts in maritime transit, shipbuilding policy, and bridge design following the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore this week).
I want to help, I want to share my experiences, I want to approach my take on the world form multiple perspectives, because honestly, that’s the only way you can view the world. I’ll still talk about emerging tech and the dangers I think it poses, environmental disaster, and some related workplace issues for good measure, but this s@!t is complicated! And we’re not going to handle it casually in a few sentences on a Sunday afternoon because I feel like venting during March Madness and I’m going to pick the tragedy de jour to vent my frustration (and then get mad when no one calls me for an interview because I have about 5 minutes of contact on one of the -chans and watch a video on a partisan website and decide I’m an expert). No!
Anyway, the rambling is done. I’m back, and we’re getting serious. I still have no idea where this is heading, but I’m going to just go and hopefully find my voice along the way. My rising sign is Virgo, so the world views me as a well-organized, prudish, disciplined, dramatic, and a perfectionist (some of this is true). I’m also gifted with the uncanny ability to figure out what’s going on in any situations in a matter of seconds (then also make the mistake letting everyone know what the problem is - and pissing people off in the process). But, I’m a Pisces sun - compassionate, idealistic, creative. I have an odd sense of humor and generally have a problem with setting boundaries (we tend to say yes to helping everyone and then have nothing left for us).
So, there’s a solar eclipse in Aries April 8th…it’s game on: new timeline kind of stuff. And I’m ready for it. Inspired by the astrologers and my own passion for getting these ideas out, it’s happening. Expect more like this, I think. Rambling WTF posts that come back to some mind-blowing point, where you’re like “ohhhh, yeah, I see it.” A little unfiltered, a little polished, and a lot of just following things where the spirit leads me. We’re going down the rabbit hole…buckle up!
